Responsibilities and Scope
- Review, draw methodological insights from and synthesize relevant scientific literature.
- Manage and analyze data and write up findings for peer-reviewed publications.
- Engage with local communities to collect data and communicate relevant findings and their practical applications.
- Design experiments and collect data.
- Develop visualizations for communicating research results.
- Deliver tools, data, analytical support, field services and training to staff and partners.
- Contribute to grant writing and other fundraising efforts.
- Work collaboratively though influence and building professional relationships. Undertake internal partnerships and collaborations to support above functions and responsibilities.
- May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, in hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.
What You’ll Bring
- Ph.D. in a natural or social science discipline relevant to conservation science, awarded by start of the position (and no longer than 4 years prior) and at least 1 to 2 years of related experience.
- Experience and interest in agroforestry, biodiversity and/or natural climate solutions.
- Experience reviewing and synthesizing relevant scientific literature.
- Experience collecting, manipulating, analyzing and interpreting scientific data.
- Experience with statistical analysis and data synthesis.
- Experience preparing reports of findings for peer-reviewed publications.
- Strong writing and communication skills in English and Portuguese.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience conducting research and communicating with stakeholders in agricultural systems or working landscapes.
- Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
- Experience with grant writing or other fundraising efforts.
- Record of peer reviewed publications.
- Experience integrating spatial data.
- Experience with sample section, research instrument development, and collection of data.
- Familiarity with geospatial data analysis
- Knowledge of computer technology and common software applications.
- Experience that demonstrates attention to detail.
- Experience working collaboratively across multiple stakeholders including non-scientists.
- Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
